You download stuff by right clicking on it and choosing save as in the menu, and then save it to a folder you know on your computer, and if you are on a mac, well you click on it and choose save as I believe.

You make a 'dollmaker' site by creating your own base bodies, clothing, hair, etc. and then getting the coding. You do NOT steal graphics from the palace chat and put them up on your site, it is illegal :)

Well, really I can't its either just you use a picture and shrink it down, or look at your own body in different positions and draw a base body that way. Unfortunetly, I really can't recomment a site for that....Try looking at some famouse paintings of people and see if you get anyt ideas from there for starters ^_^

Well, if you are using MS Paint (which isn't the best program to be using), the colors should not be coming out warped. You might try looking at it's help files on this, and entering in color palette. I'm not too sure about that one. Maybe someone else does?

Yes, I pay for my domain names and hosting fees. Fortunetly, it doesn't cost all that much! I did pay $25 dollars each for both www.veriria.com and www.rubberhouse.net, and then I pay $8.95 a month to keep my site up and hosted, using www.phpwebhosting.com. They have been around for 2 years now and they seem to be a reliable company so far. So, if you are looking for a birthday present or perhaps a christmas present, maybe this would be a good thing to ask for! It doesn't cost that much to host your own domain :)
You can also try www.doteasy.com - all you pay for is your domain name ($25) and you get FREE hosting, which is pretty cool, I wish I would have found them earlier :D

Simple - every site I've had, I've gotten from some other template site, giving them away 'free for a link'. Every template I've used has had a link to the creators sites on them, so I don't know why your emailing me about that :P I'm ok when it comes to web design, but thats truly my brother's area, not mine. In all honesty, if you look at the dolls I have created, I don't enjoy making contemporary dolls. I like fantasy and sci-fi, which is why (honestly) I ignore the emails where people ask me to make them Tommy Hilfigure dolls, with pagers and cell phones. But, if you have something out of the ordinary that you would like to see, email me and I'll see what I can do.

I make my dolls normally in Paint Shop Pro, or Microsoft Paint. I normally do them in the Palace style, coloring entirely with the paint brush tool, and the width of it set to one pixel. I normally draw new clothing and such on basic bodies that I have also provided on my website, that I got from Palace, but sometimes I create entirely new bodies as well. It really isn't that hard, but it can take a good while. I also like to be able to zoom in a couple times, as dolls are relatively small.

How does one make the background on props transparent? I finally learned how to paste them into palace but they have a colored box around them. How do I get rid of that? |
Dear Dragonpearl,
To get rid of the background on a prop (assuming the background is all the same color), first go into the edit box of the prop you wish to practice on. Click on the eraser button, then click (on your keyboard) the alt button, and hold it down. You will notice a paint can come up in place of your normal cursor. Then, still holding down the alt button, click anywhere in the background of your prop. It will disappear; just click ok to close it. Next time you wear that prop, it should be transparent.

Also, GifWorks (www.gifworks.com) let's you make your background transparent, plus other stuff, for free if you use MsPaint like me,and can't in the program. |

I'm currently working on some new tutorials for hair for my site, but they may take a while. Unfortunetly, I don't know of any other sites that actually show how to create new hairstyles on the net either, but if I ever find any, be sure to know that I will post them up right away on my site. Also that gifworks.com is a great idea, I would have never thought to post that up ;)

Yes, provided you have a painting program such as paint shop pro or photoshop. You can get a free trial version of PSP at www.jasc.com It is the program I use most frequently, and it is the program I use when writing the tutorials on my website. I'm currently working on a layers tutorial for my site, and I will be adding it soon. In the meantime, you might want to try to search for (whatever painting program you use) tutorials. A *great* place to search for tutorials is on www.tutorialsearch.com.
