05/08/2007: "Shiver Me Timbers!"
Anyone hear about this girl who got denied her bachelor of science degree in education and teaching certificate because of a photo here on myspace? The picture showed her in a pirate hat, drinking out a cup (no clue as to the liquid in said cup), with the title "Drunken Pirate". I guess she was told on the night before she was to graduate (after 4 years of school) that instead of receiving her bachelor of science degree in education and teaching certificate, she would be getting a degree in English because of this picture.
Huh? How does that equal out? Sort of like 2+2=5, or an apple + orange = banana? !!!
Yeah. Fucked up. I read about it in the Chicago Tribune today while working on train 391. And I must say, whoever wrote this little article is an asshat as well. He/she contends because this woman, Stacy Snyder, was "unprofessional" in taking this picture and posting it online, and therefore should not be a teacher because of it. Seriously. WTFmate?
I was pleased to see she is suing the school for money for damages as well as her teaching certificate.
Which leads to my next question: Which story is worse? This one, or the boy who got arrested for a story he wrote, following the guidelines his teacher gave them in his creative writing class?
